I´m thinking of buying a sony rps 600, but I mostly read PDF documents with scanned text articles.
Will the articles be readable? Or will it be a disaster?

Which is better? With the free 3G for both of them, does it mean that I can be at my house(I don’t have wi-fi) and be able to search and download books for no cost at all? What one is more recommended? Which is better quality? I’d like some links with more information about the Amazon Kindle DX and the Barnes & Noble Nook. And if you have any other information or your personal opinion, please tell. I want to know everything. Thank you!

I own the Kindle. If you ask me to choose again now, I’ll still go for the Kindle instead of the Nook, because it has the text-to-speech function which means I can "read" books with my hands and eyes free to do other things. I use this function often when I’m on public transport, doing housework, etc. It is really a cool feature that cannot be missed.

The web browsing function over wireless network on the Kindle (while the Nook only has web browsing over WiFi, i.e. only when you are around WiFi hotspot; the Sony Reader doesn’t even have a web browser) is rather important as well. The free internet (and now it is free international internet) plus the web browser allow me to look for information whenever I’m in need. And right now it is free for both the U.S. and many other countries, it is just incredible when you bring it to trip (note that you cannot get ebooks for the Nook when you’re outside the U.S., but you can get books on the Kindle outside U.S.)

And indeed, the Kindle has more available books, and ebooks are cheaper on the Kindle as well (Barnes and Nobles always count in the one million free books from Google, which can also be read on the Kindle. For Sony, many users complain it is difficult to find books for it).

Amazon.com’s Kindle DX says it can play MP3s as "background music" while you read. Could the Kindle be a suitable replacement for an Ipod Touch? I don’t want to lug a lot of devices around. I only use the Ipod on planes when I travel.

Um, well do you like black and white? Are you a Heavy reader? I know Kindle is a little cheaper than iPad. iPad can do the same thing as kindle except it even has more features than Kindle. If i was you, i would go for iPad 16gb (wifi only) for only 100 dollars extra. This would def replace ipod touch

I notice someone using Google Maps on a Apple ipad but I costs way too much for internet so I wanted to know if the no charge for internet ebook readers could do it.
Maps work so much better with a screen bigger than a cell phone screen.

Yes, they can use Google map. The Nook can use the Google map only when you are in wifi hotspot area (because it can only browse the internet through wifi but not 3G), while the Kindle can use the Google map through 3G.

Among the ebook readers, the Amazon Kindle is the best I’ll say. I recommend this article, it mentioned Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Nobles, and other ebook readers by the end of the review:
