My Electronic Book Reader

All about the joys of owning an electronic book reader.

Does anyone own an Amazon Kindle-(ebook reader)?

Hello again! Just to re-emphasize my question: Does anyone own an Amazon Kindle or a Sony eBook Reader? It’s an electronic device that can store up to 350 books downloaded. My job, Walmart Super Center, has the Sony eBook Readers for $148.00. I heard that they’re nice to have, for those who enjoy reading. I’m planning on purchasing one tommorrow!

I own the Kindle, so let me give you some of my opinions. It is a great device, and I’ve to say I love it! I think I’ve read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far! And since Kindle books are cheaper than actual books, I think I’ve saved around $120 on buying books already.

One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I have the Kindle, waiting time like when I’m waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I’ve myself busy on some boring things, say when I’m on the step machine or doing some housework…

I like reading and at the beginning I did miss a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books… Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don’t feel tired… And I now prefer to manage all books inside the Kindle rather than my never big enough bookshelf… And like to do bookmarking, annotation, dictionary lookup without any additional thing but a Kindle.

There are quite a lot of free books (tips: if you’re outside the U.S. all the books will have US$2 added, but when you choose to download to computer when you check out, the $2 will be waived, and you can copy the books to your Kindle through USB cable), and many Kindle books, magazines and newspapers are cheaper than the actual paper version. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

  1. Goomba Said,

My wife bought the Kindle 2 about a month ago. She said she would never buy one because she like holding a book in her hand. While she borrowed a Kindle from a friend of hers and it was love at first read. She won’t put it down. She loves the Kindle 2 and there are some many free books on Amazon that you can get. Downloading a book is simple and fast. Hers was $259.00 on Amazon.

I do own kindle.Kindle is sure a worth buying. Wireless is a unique feature I will say and that’s make really value for money. 3G wireless and global coverage, I personally travel a lot and really worthy for me. You can have any newspaper at any place and also they are cheaper. The best selling value for the Kindle is convenience for the travel, it’s pretty handy and easy to carry anywhere with you. The other important thing matters to me are speedy for downloading books and reading material. Also it allow around average size of 1500 books and reading material to store, so is a significant amount of storage space to bring with you. In one line I can say “you are carrying your book shelf with you”.
Also one of the other feature of Kindle is it’s E-INK screen technology that don’t glare in any light so no strain to eyes and you can read for hours.

Also you save a lot in compare to the actual books, the books on kindle are really cheaper so I have saved a lot till now. Also there are plenty of books on kindle to choose. Also it has so good features such as Text-To-Speech which is really useful when you get bored or doing some other activity.

My vote goes to the Kindle, as books on it are cheaper compared to Sony Reader. It is difficult to find some books, especially new releases, for Sony Reader as well. There is a good review here for you to read and decide:

  5. Rony Said,

Kindle is definitely an amazing device. Its worth the money. You can put ebooks/notes/audio books on your kindle also Notes and annotations are very easy to make.Very easy to use with the PC and the Mac Kindle is very straight forward there’s no need for additional software required for Kindle. Also supports you can also increase the text size which is again amazing.E-INK screen technology that don’t glare in any light so no strain to eyes and less harmful. There are wide range of books on kindle many are free and other are cheaper at price than the actual books so yes I have saved a lot of money till now.
You dont have to carry now all those heavy actual books, kindle is so light weight which is carrying almost 1500 books within it. Since I travel a lot I really like the 3G Internet you can get the internet wherever you go. Whenever you are tired of reading you can also you Text-To-Speech with auto-page turning feature which is jst so relaxing. If the small size strains your eyes a lot than can also change the text-size. I must say Kindle is a small magic books really I cant live without it.

Among the ebook readers, the Amazon Kindle is the best I’ll say. I recommend this article, it mentioned Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, and other ebook readers by the end of the review:

    Guess it’ll help you decide.
