Which is better? With the free 3G for both of them, does it mean that I can be at my house(I don’t have wi-fi) and be able to search and download books for no cost at all? What one is more recommended? Which is better quality? I’d like some links with more information about the Amazon Kindle DX and the Barnes & Noble Nook. And if you have any other information or your personal opinion, please tell. I want to know everything. Thank you!
I own the Kindle. If you ask me to choose again now, I’ll still go for the Kindle instead of the Nook, because it has the text-to-speech function which means I can "read" books with my hands and eyes free to do other things. I use this function often when I’m on public transport, doing housework, etc. It is really a cool feature that cannot be missed.
The web browsing function over wireless network on the Kindle (while the Nook only has web browsing over WiFi, i.e. only when you are around WiFi hotspot; the Sony Reader doesn’t even have a web browser) is rather important as well. The free internet (and now it is free international internet) plus the web browser allow me to look for information whenever I’m in need. And right now it is free for both the U.S. and many other countries, it is just incredible when you bring it to trip (note that you cannot get ebooks for the Nook when you’re outside the U.S., but you can get books on the Kindle outside U.S.)
And indeed, the Kindle has more available books, and ebooks are cheaper on the Kindle as well (Barnes and Nobles always count in the one million free books from Google, which can also be read on the Kindle. For Sony, many users complain it is difficult to find books for it).
And I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get my Kindle:

How about ‘none of the above’?
Honestly, do you NEED to spend $300 on a device whose sole purpose is to display overpriced, glorified text files? Is a single book really that heavy? How many books do you really need to carry with you at once? Ok, if you’re a college student, one of these MIGHT make sense, though personally I can’t stand reading long documents on a computer screen.
Otherwise, you’re paying $10-12 for a "book" you can’t lend or sell to a friend without getting rid of your entire Kindle/Nook. Meanwhile, even a paperback is only $7-8 new, and if you have an outlet bookstore near you (like HalfPrice Books) even hard cover books can be had for less than what those DRM encrypted text files these things have you buying – and you can sell the book back to the store when you’re done with it!

There are some very good reviews between the Kindle and the Nook here:

I’ve also given a detailed review about the Nook and comparison with the Kindle previously, in another answer here. Guess it’ll help you decide which one to choose:

And recently, Amazon has announced an upgrade to its Kindle, to secure their market shares. See here for the update details:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fhelp%2Fcustomer%2Fdisplay.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26nodeId%3D200324680%26ref_%3Dhp%5Fnavbox%5Fkrec%5Fsu&tag=ereader-2-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
And it is a myth that the Kindle can only get books from Amazon. Actually the Kindle supports quite a variety of formats as well, including very common open formats like PDF, MS Word, etc. So you can get books from other websites selling books in those formats as well. See "Files Kindle Recognizes" section here on what file format the Kindle can support:

Kindle is sure a worth buying. Wireless is a unique feature I will say and that’s make really value for money. 3G wireless and global coverage, I personally travel a lot and really worthy for me. You can have any newspaper at any place and also they are cheaper. The best selling value for the Kindle is convenience for the travel, it’s pretty handy and easy to carry anywhere with you. The other important thing matters to me are speedy for downloading books and reading material. Also it allow around average size of 1500 books and reading material to store, so is a significant amount of storage space to bring with you. In one line I can say “you are carrying your book shelf with you”.
Also one of the other feature of Kindle is it’s E-INK screen technology that don’t glare in any light so no strain to eyes and you can read for hours.
Also you save a lot in compare to the actual books, the books on kindle are really cheaper so I have saved a lot till now. Also there are plenty of books on kindle to choose. Also it has so good features such as Text-To-Speech which is really useful when you get bored or doing some other activity.

Among the ebook readers, the Amazon Kindle is the best I’ll say. I recommend this article, it mentioned Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, Barnes and Nobles, and other ebook readers by the end of the review:

There are huge selection of free books for the Kindle as well, as you can find here:

Finally, Amazon just released a new Kindle DX with 50% better contrast and further price cut. I put the link below for you to check out yourself.

PoohBearPenguin, the screen isn’t like a computer screen. It uses E-Ink, which looks almost exactly like a paper page. And I think the idea is that owning a nook allows you to download books from pretty much wherever you stand. The books are cheaper than retail, and while, yes, you can probably get them cheaper at used book stores and the like, you’re still paying for something that, alongside 1,499 of its buddies, isn’t exactly portable.
And for college students, there’s also the ability to add highlights and footnotes, which you can then print off of a computer to make maybe some kind of study guide, whatever floats your boat. The text books are far more affordable as ebooks than from the bookstore. And for older folks or people with poor eyesight, the text can be enlarged up to XXL (about 28 pt font on Word).
The other benefit is that if you’re traveling, and you’re anything like me (unable to pick just one book for the trip, because who knows what you’ll be in the mood for when you actually get on the plane), you don’t have to worry about which book(s) to bring because you’ll have your entire library with you in a 12.3 oz. e-reader. The nook’s library, before expansion, holds up to 1,500 books at a time, and can be expanded to hold up to 17,500. You can also transport mp3s, jpegs and PDFs, as well as subscribing to newspapers and magazines.
And just as in the digital music world, there are ways in the digital book world for you to get things cheap or free. Plenty of websites will offer free ebooks in any of nook’s supported file types for you to download, and the nook comes with a usb cord so you can plug it into your computer. There are also about 500,000 free books, mostly classics I’ll admit, that are offered on the nook itself for direct download.
And everything you buy gets backed up onto your BN.com account, so if you drop your nook into a volcano or it gets eaten by a bear, you won’t have lost your books. They can be transferred to your new nook (provided for free, of course, by B&N) at no cost to you.
And it’s only $200 now. $149 if you get the WiFi only version.

3 of the 4 days a week that I spend working at B&N are at the nook booth up front.
I say the Kindle.
I love my Kindle 2 very much. If you’re thinking about getting the Kindle, I’ll say get it and you won’t regret. Right now I’ve read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. The internet browsing comes handy as well when I want to look for information on some specific area. My only complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are in white color… I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle
Kindle books are cheaper than hard copies. I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR9J54TZ1541OR%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
And there are some websites, where you can find more than a million of free books for the Kindle, so that’s why you no longer need to get to library, you can actually own these books:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/b/?node=2245146011&tag=more_info-20
If you need to read PDF with charts and graphics, you may want to go for the Kindle DX (the new Kindle DX Graphite version is now at cheaper price and with better contrast). Read this review and you should be able to decide which one to get:
