I was wondering cause I was really excited about getting a Kindle 2 but now I have to reconsider, especially if the iPad is gonna have advanced e-reader like features. It already seems to beat the Sony e-book readers but the Kindle is still pretty cool but limited in functionality by comparison.
Note that I only want to consider buying this as e-book reader alternative not as a laptop or desktop alternative so you don’t need to tell me all the things that laptops have that it doesn’t have.
Ipad sucks, its on at&t like the iphone

Are Sony and Amazon in trouble with their respective e-book readers now that Apple released the ipad?
Can anyone tell me any ebook readers coming out this year or is coming out that’s i?
Like the question, I wanted to know if anyone know any ebook readers coming out this year or is going to come out that’s in color like Qualcomm Mirasol? Also does anyone know if Barnes and Noble are coming out with a nook that’s in color? Thanks a million .
No, there isn’t any rumor came out for any Nook or Kindle. I think there won’t be new one this year, it may be next year. If you’re thinking to get an ebook reader, try the current models. For the new ones next year, price will be more expensive when they first come out, so you’ll have to wait long to get the new reader at good price.
I’ve given a detailed comparison between the Nook and the Kindle previously, in another answer here. Guess it’ll help you decide which one to choose:

And recently, Amazon has announced an upgrade to its Kindle, to secure their market shares. See here for the update details:

How long do you think it will be before electronic readers are used in college?
I’m sure some colleges and text book companies already do it already.
How long do you think it will be before every college student is carrying a Kindle or a Nook around and paper text books stop being used?
Do you like the idea?
Oh, and books are USUALLY cheaper when bought for a device like the Kindle, Nook or iPad
It will be a few years I think.
The Kindle has the best selection of textbooks. It has signed contract with some big textbook publishers. I’ve mentioned quite a lot about textbooks on the Amazon Kindle, in another answer here:

And here you can find textbooks for the Kindle:

Need a PDF document reader – Kindle DX or iPad – help me decide?
The title says it all.
The Amazon Kindle DX or the Apple iPad
I’m not really interested in any of the iPads other capabilities so this
is just a straight up comparison of devices for reading PDF ebooks.
Which should i buy?
For reading purpose, I’ll say the Kindle ebook reader will definitely be better.

Best ebook reader software for PC?
I’m looking for a program that will allow me to read ebooks on my pc, on a monitor. I mostly just use free e-books, so pdf, html and rtf viewers are all I need. I also think I will do some heavy reading, so software that uses technology such as cleartype, etc will be helpful. What program should I use?
I suggest this ebook reader software:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Ffeature.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Damb%5Flink%5F352814002%5F1%26docId%3D1000493771&tag=elec-m-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
You can also get free books on the ebook software here:

iPhone ebook reading: TextOnPhone
Yesterday I mentioned TextOnPhone, an eBook web app for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. Here’s an eleven-minute walkthrough to give you an idea of what it offers. I specifically did this demo in a “worst-case” scenario by using EDGE, i.e.; I shut my WiFi radio off on the iPhone. You can see the performance of the experience, which overall, I think is very good. The application wisely caches ahead a number of pages so that you really don’t need to wait for pages to load. There are some basic user customization settings and some excellent eBook reading lists and I’m very impressed that the app remembers where you left off in a book. Overall, I was pretty impressed in the short time I’ve used TextOnPhone.
